Trade & Investment Policy

  • Conducted assessment of the market potential and key issues in North American Transborder light freight market for a large Canadian-based multi-modal operator.    Provided recommendations with regard to market opportunities, partnerships, and product priorities, driving the selection of cross-border partners and investment decisions.
  • Developed the business plan, plus managed the investment and acquisition negotiations to create a technology company focused on the logistics market.  Resulted in the creation of the Postea Group, plus an SPV with Singapore Post & Temasek, with an initial valuation $120M.
  • Senior Executive responsible for the development and initial management of the Canadian Trade and Investment Facility (CTIF), which supports focused priority trade and investment-related policy reforms within the Asia Pacific region.
  •  Responsible for improving the business processes and focusing the market development efforts for a Crown Corporation mandated to assist exporters with developing and delivering large scale projects overseas

Economic Development 

  • Developed and managed a program to identify and address barriers to investment in 18 Special Economic zones over a 5-year term.  This involved measures to improve the “Ease of Doing Business” score, plus selective investment, and support for innovative programs in collaboration with Federal, Provincial and Municipal planning bodies for a client in South East Asia
  • Identified opportunities for locally-based suppliers within a series of key market segments to participate in and benefit from opportunities within the Mining sector supply chain in the Conakry – Simandou rail corridor.   
  • In consultation with a Canadian partner, plus a multilateral team of energy consultants, developed the Economic development strategy to introduce the Super-ESCO concept to a government in the EMEA region. 
  • Senior Executive responsible for The “Cities and Climate Change (3CP)” program in Mozambique, which facilitated improvements to public sector infrastructure required to attract investment by delivering a 98% increase in “Own Source” revenues across 26 target municipalities within 12 months.

Public Service Transformation

  • Business Transformation, Technology, Infrastructure and Asset Management projects with public sector clients and private sector partners.
    • Mandates have included Ministries of Communications & Transport, Treasury and Finance, Defense, Privatization & Investment, Utilities and Logistics.
  • Implementation of a SMART Utility solution for a large utility within the Caribbean region.
  • Management responsibility for public service concessions in the Defence, logistics and financial services sectors in North America, EMEA, the Caribbean and Asia Pacific.

International Market Entry

  • Established and managed regional offices in the UK, Austria, Ireland, the United States, South Africa, Mozambique, South Sudan, Barbados, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
  • Developed and managed the Bringing Canada to You strategy, which provided an integrated solution for companies including Victoria’s Secret, Land’s End, Cabella’s and MBN Banking to enter and invest in the Canadian market.
  • Designed and led international market entry programs focused on Clean-Energy, Defence, Technology, Logistics, and Public Service modernization.  These programs required significant effort to identify and engage local partners, investors, along with product development / product management and delivery considerations in order to achieve success. 

Corporate Development

  • Executive leadership, plus post-acquisition management responsibility for integration and business transformation objectives with companies, project teams and public sector clients in markets including Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, Poland, Western Europe, Barbados, Costa Rica, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname,  Sri Lanka,  Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia,  Pakistan, the UAE, South Sudan, Mozambique, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, Mali and Senegal. 
  • Creation and management of international business divisions for companies in the Technology, Logistics,  and consulting sectors.  Developed, transformed and managed the international teams, products and services required to enable operation. 
  •  Led the market assessment and evolution of companies in the international technology, logistics and consulting sectors to address financial, operational and market strengths and weaknesses and generate increased revenues.

Product Development

  • Development and management of new practice areas with an International consulting firm – generating 60% of corporate margins within 24 months.
  • Led product development, plus industrial design efforts, for products and services in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle market, generating a 10X increase in sales for the new product line, while overseeing the initial sales and deliveries to the new customers.
  • Led the product development, IP protection and patent generation,  plus introduction and management of new products and services in the logistics, technology, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and consulting sectors for companies operating in the North American, European and Asian markets. 
  • Rationalization and transformation of key product lines for clients in the technology, logistics, consulting and advanced manufacturing sectors, with responsibility to ensure and achieve both customer and operational benefits.  

Contract Management

  • Development and management of contracts, stakeholder relations, plus channel and partner relationships in over 45 countries throughout Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Operational responsibility for contract management, plus project delivery, for O/M contracts with suppliers and partners, as well as to regulated public sector clients in the Defence, Aerospace, Utilities, Logistics, Finance, Environment and Communications markets in North America, EMEA, the Caribbean, LATAM and Asia Pacific.
  • Established strong working relationships with private and public sector partners, as well as a variety of multilateral and bilateral agencies, including the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the African Development Bank, EDC, GAC, CCC, CDB, and the IBRD.
